Photograph: a picture painted by the sun without instruction in art.
____________________________________ All
I wanted was to connect my moods with those of Paris. Beauty pains and
when it pained most, I shot.
____________________________________ Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there
is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again.
____________________________________ Photographers, along with dentists, are the two professions never satisfied with what they do. Every
dentist would like to be a doctor and inside every photographer is a
painter trying to get out.
____________________________________ Often while traveling with a camera we arrive just as the sun slips over the horizon of a moment, too late to expose film, only time enough to expose our hearts. ~Minor
White I
really believe there are things nobody would see if I didn't photograph
them.
____________________________________ It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter because you can invent things. But
in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking
before you learn to see the extraordinary.
____________________________________ Most photographers would feel a certain embarrassment in admitting publicly that they carried within them a sense of wonder, yet
without it they would not produce the work they do, whatever their
particular field.
____________________________________ ‘To the complaint, ‘there are no people in these photographs,’ I respond, ‘There
are always two people: the photographer and the viewer.’
____________________________________ To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy.
____________________________________ I dream that someday the step between my mind and my finger will no longer be needed. And
that simply by blinking my eyes, I shall make pictures. Then, I think, I
shall really have become a photographer.
____________________________________ To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've
found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do
with the way you see them.
____________________________________ Look
and think before opening the shutter. The heart and mind are the true
lens of the camera.
____________________________________ My
own eyes are no more than scouts on a preliminary search, for the
camera's eye may entirely change my idea.
____________________________________ When you photograph people in colour you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in B&W, you photograph their souls! |
